Spiritual development has much to do with mental perception.
Sometime in the second part of the 1990ies I came across a book that showed the energy centers of the head. This book woke me up regarding my understanding of meditation.
In this book were five energy centers on the forehead. In the course of the next years I developed the understanding that all the five energy centers are real and what they mean.
As I am an ardent follower of kevala bhakti (only Brahma and Brahma Sadhana have importance for me) I quickly understood that the Guru Cakra is at the highest point of the forehead, not where the pineal gland is or at other places.
The first energy center of the forehead is an upa-cakra just above the nose. It also has the function of an mental eye. Our third lesson is related to it. Once I perceived it during meditation: it slowly opened and I saw the white smoke of the fourth cakra; and the microvita that are the basis of solid matter; they move very, very slowly.
The second energy center (forehead) is the sixth cakra. This is our second mental eye. It is much more developed in the case of people with a high standard of education.
The third energy center is an upa-cakra and place of the famous “Third Eye”. As it is much under the influence of the sixth cakra only intense spiritual practice and mental renunciation from this world enable a sadhaka to perceive much through it.
I call it mental eye “3a” as a person has the possibility to have an additional cakra that is situated exactly in the middle of the forehead. It has the same function as the upa-cakra of the “Third Eye”, but is much more powerful as it is not under the influence of the sixth cakra’s vibrations. Some have this cakra from birth. Others get it after a serious disease or an accident.
One night in June 1995 I fell down some stairs and ended up on my head. This very painful accident was used by Brahma to connect some nerves in this central area of the forehead: I had the ninth cakra.
From that day my mind became like a central station for transcendental information: I had visions of past lives, the future, saw human life on other planets etc. Both mental eyes (3a and 3b) are doors to the level of the Atimanas Kosa/Mahar Loka.
The Guru Cakra has also the function of a mental eye. A Sadhaka perceives Brahma/Paramatman through it.
In Didi Ananda Mitra’s book “Commentary on Ananda Sutram” 16 spiritual vrittis get mentioned that are said to be somehow related to the Vijinanamaya Kosa. This is not precise. Like the other vrittis these spiritual vrittis have a physical base: the Guru Cakra.
Those who want to develop these vrittis (vaeragya non-attachment, romainca spiritual ecstasy etc) have to practice maximum sixth lesson (or one of the two meditations that I mention I my texts.
If you have troubles: The six lessons will not help to get rid of them. The Kiirtan Mantra will, or at least will make a difficult situation more easy to handle. It is the daily practice of Kiirtan (one hour or more) that will bring a revolution into a person’s life.
